Celebrating Our Historical Fiction Competition Winners

This year, Northern Schools Trust was delighted to host its Trust-wide Historical Fiction Competition, inviting students from both Primary and Secondary Schools to showcase their creative historical writing.
The competition received an outstanding response, with students producing imaginative, engaging and beautifully written stories inspired by different periods of history. The standard of entries across the Trust was exceptional, making the judging process incredibly difficult.
Mark Robinson, Trust Lead for Humanities, said:
"I would like to say a huge thank you to every student who entered this year's Trust Historical Fiction Competition. We received an outstanding response from both our primary and secondary schools, and the quality, creativity and historical imagination on display made judging incredibly difficult.
One line that has stayed with me, written by a student from Thomas Gray Primary School, was, 'Moral: friends are family once you know them.' It perfectly captured the thoughtfulness and creativity shown throughout the competition.
Although we originally planned to award just three overall prizes. Congratulations to all of our winners and everyone who took part. You should all be incredibly proud of your achievements."
Primary School Winners

Congratulations to our Primary School winners Alisha and Madison from Four Oaks Primary School and Taqwa from Thomas Gray Primary School
Book tokens were presented to the winners during celebrations at their schools, recognising their outstanding storytelling and creativity.
Secondary School Winners

Congratulations to our Secondary School winners Sidak, Maggie and Lorelai from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio. Congratulations also to Daniel from North Liverpool Academy and Erin from Gateacre School.
A special mention goes to Sidak from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, whose historical fiction piece, set in post-war Liverpool, was described by the judges as one of the finest pieces of student fiction they had ever read. Demonstrating exceptional creativity and dedication, Sidak even transformed the story into a beautifully illustrated book, making it a truly outstanding entry deserving of special recognition.
Every student who entered the competition received a certificate in recognition of their hard work and creativity, with additional commendations awarded to celebrate the exceptionally high standard of writing across the Trust.
A huge thank you to all of our students for their enthusiasm and imagination, and to the staff across our schools for supporting and encouraging such fantastic work.
Congratulations once again to all of our winners and everyone who took part. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing even more outstanding historical writing in next year's competition.
