Northern Schools Trust Marks Remembrance Day 2025

On Tuesday, the 11th of November 2025, students and staff across the Northern Schools Trust came together to mark Remembrance Day. This day marks a national moment of reflection to honour the sacrifices of those who served in conflicts past and present.
This year was significant, as the Remembrance Service was streamed live to every school within the Trust, including our Primary Schools. Coming together in this shared act reminds us why Remembrance matters, helping young people understand the cost of conflict and the importance of peace.
Cadets from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, The Studio School, North Liverpool Academy and Gateacre School Combined Cadet Forces (CCF) took part in the parade and supported the delivery of the service. Their involvement brought dignity, structure, and respect to the ceremony, representing the commitment and dedication shown by young people who choose to serve their community in this way.
We are proud that all four of our Secondary Schools now have established CCF contingents, including the newly launched programmes at North Liverpool Academy and Gateacre School, with the other schools continuing their strong eight-year history of cadet development.
What is the Combined Cadet Force?
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a national youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. It offers young people the opportunity to take part in challenging, military-themed training designed to develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, self-discipline, and confidence.
Each cadet unit is supported by trained staff and the Armed Forces, with students able to take part in a wide range of activities, which may include:
- Leadership and character training
- Fieldcraft, first aid, navigation and teamwork tasks
- Parade and ceremonial drill
- Community engagement and public services such as Remembrance events
- Adventure training, flying, sailing, camps and expeditions
The CCF is open to all students who want to push themselves, build new skills, and contribute positively to their community. Learn more here.
We are proud to be the only Multi-Academy Trust in Liverpool where four of our state schools offer the opportunity to be part of the Combined Cadet Force.
